I will preface my response by saying I've been able to connect on some computers and not others. All my computers are XP with Outlook 2007. With identical hardware configuration. We're all on the same network. I've uninstalled/reinstalled both MS Social Connector and LinkedIn Connector a few times. On the computers I got it working I was prompted to enter my Linked In username/password. It was easy. No strange restarts, or confusing installation questions. On the computers that didn't work, when I load the "Social Network Account Settings..." under "Tools" there is no LinkedIn account to edit.
I've also tried installing MSXML6. I could only install "msxml6_SDK.msi" version https://help.linkedin.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3155
To install LinkedIn/Outlook Connector I've done it two ways with no success:
In each instance I had Outlook closed on install. I've restarted my computer. It seems the Microsoft social connector is installed successfully. But no LinkedIn. Under "Tools" > "Social Network Account Settings..." I don't see the LinkedIn account for account setup like I've seen on my other computers.
Could it be a network issue? Permissions issue with connecting to LinkedIn servers? If so, shouldn't I at least be able to setup my LinkedIn account and be denied access if this is the case?
Could it be that it's corrupted and all the files are not installing?
Is it a outlook configuration issue? If so, where would I check to verify this?
