.ME Domains Rules Cause Pain |

| | Some people jumped into the .ME rush without reading the rules (don't feel bad, I did the same thing). .ME domains were released with different rules and regulations then most domains you are used to buying and if you don't know about it, you might feel the pinch soon. First of all, .me domains CANNOT be refunded like most domains can.
The .me registry is not issuing refunds for any .me that was actually purchased (this excludes pre-registration bids that you lost). Many people started snatching up domains on Thursday then went over their list and started canceling domains they did not want to keep anticipating a refund, only to call into various registries and be told that .me's would not allow refunds. This rule is the same across all registrars, so don't think its just a few being stingy.
Second big thing you might have noticed is that 3 letter .me domains are nowhere to be found. Those all went to a special auction instead of being released to the public.
Last but not least, .me domains cannot be registered for less than one year at a time. Don't let all of this stop you from snatching up those great .me domains, but do spend a few more minutes thinking about it before you get stuck with something you might not really want. |
